About CGMDB

CGMDB is envisioned as the definitive digital database of Chhattisgarhi cinema, music, artists and cultural heritage — a home for the films, songs and Lok Kala traditions that tell the story of Chhattisgarh, connected the way they actually are in life: a film leads to its songs, a song to its singer, a singer to the tradition they grew up performing.

This build is an early-stage prototype. The site's structure, browsing experience and design system are meant to reflect the real, finished product — but the catalogue itself is demonstration data. Most film titles, plots, cast lists, songs and biographical details are invented to populate the experience realistically, and should not be treated as factual record. A small number of widely documented public facts (for example, that Chhattisgarh's first feature film was released in 1965, or that Pandwani and Panthi are real, longstanding performance traditions) are represented respectfully and in general terms.

If CGMDB becomes a real, maintained archive, it will be built in collaboration with the artists, historians and communities whose work it documents — and every factual claim will be sourced and verifiable.
